Cheongju City Government has expanded the Citizen Safety Insurance coverage in 2021 for enlarged benefits and ensured safety.
Since June 2019, the city government has executed Citizen Safety Insurance to stabilize citizens’ lives by securing safety, medical treatment, and compensation for citizens suffering damages from various unexpected disasters and accidents. Any citizen registered as a Cheongju City resident (including registered international residents) will be automatically insured without a separate subscription procedure, with all insurance amounts borne by Cheongju City. From June 2021, the city expanded the insurance coverages, including ▲ one additional item for water accident mortalities, ▲ KRW 1 million more coverage for natural disaster mortalities, and ▲ KRW 3 million more insurance fees for mortalities/stress disorders for agricultural machinery accidents. The Citizen Safety Insurance’s coverage and limits are as follows: ▲ KRW 20 million for mortalities/stress disorders arising from explosions, fire, and collapse accidents; ▲ KRW 20 million for mortalities/stress disorders arising from public transportation accidents; ▲ KRW 20 million for natural disaster (including sunstrokes and heartstrokes) mortalities; ▲ KRW 20 million for mortalities/stress disorders arising from burglar wounds; ▲ KRW 10 million for legal expenses for medical errors; ▲ KRW 15 million for school zone traffic accidents suffered by children under the age of 12; ▲ KRW 13 million for mortalities/stress disorders arising from agricultural machinery accidents; ▲ KRW 5 million for drowning accidents; and ▲ KRW 5 million for water accident mortalities. For those who have suffered any accidents covered by Citizen Safety Insurance, please request for the insurance money within three years after the accident date.
