Cheongju-si completed a project of installing air purifiers in 78 senior care facilities (including night shelters) such as the city’s welfare facility ‘Happy House Senior Care Center’ (Director Jae-ran Yun) where long-term care grade seniors reside.
For the project, the city investigated demand by senior welfare facilities in April, except facilities installed with air purifiers, and provided a total of 203 units of air purifier, offering 1-3 units per facility depending on the size of total building area.
This project is a government-assisted one which began in 2019. Each facility should pay 10% of the price of each unit and buy air purifiers by itself and they should pay for the change of filters and maintenance cost in the future.
An official of the city said, “With air purifiers, we expect to improve the interior air quality of senior welfare facilities which are used by seniors who are vulnerable to fine dust, and we will be able to improve the health of facility users and staff.”
In one hand, as of the end of November, there are 104 senior welfare facilities used by 3,593 seniors and 2,478 workers in Cheongju-si.
