Cheongju Awarded ‘Quality Mark for Web Accessibility’ for Six Years in a Row
The website of Cheongju City (http://www.cheongju.go.kr) acquired yet another “Quality Mark for Web Accessibility” by an accredited certification body designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT. The quality mark certificate system for Web accessibility is a system recognizing the Web accessibility level of excellent websites that observe the standardized guidelines under the Framework Act on National Informatization so that those vulnerable to information such as the disabled and elderly persons don’t feel inconvenience in using websites and granting the quality mark for one year. The city has been awarded with the Web accessibility quality mark for six years in a row since the launch of the consolidated Cheongju City. To help users gain information more easily, the city revamped its homepage in the form of responsive web design so users don’t feel inconvenience even in the mobile environment; it also provided replacement texts for pictures and photos for the sake of those blind and deaf, raised the brightness contrast to help improve readability and enabled those unable to use a mouse to logon to the homepage using only a keyboard. In its effort to receive more quality marks for other homepages this year, the city is seeking to obtain the quality mark for the homepage of its health center. “We will do our best to improve our Web services to help everyone share information easily and conveniently by complying with the rules on Web accessibility caring for the disadvantaged, including the disabled and senior citizens,” a city official said. ▶Inquiry: Internet Operating Team, Information Communication Division (☎043-201-1332) |
