- Results of Evaluation on Operation and Management Status of Waste Water Treatment Plants Nationwide - It was revealed that the operation and management status of Cheongju City’s waste water treatment plants was the most exemplary among waste water treatment plants nationwide At the 2018 Waste Water Treatment Plant Installation and Operation Dinner Party and Award Ceremony organized by the Ministry of Environment (MOE)on November 28 at 3 pm in a hotel in Jeju-si, Cheongju City was awarded the Grand Prize for Nationwide Excellence. This was according to the evaluation results that the Ministry of Environment (MOE) had announced this past November 13, which followed a 1st phase evaluation of local surveys and data inspection and analysis carried out by related experts such as those of each city and province’s local river basin environmental office, the Korea Environment Corporation (K-eco), and academia, as well as non-government organizations, and a 2nd phase evaluation which carried out relative evaluation, reviewed and adjusted items to add or deduct points, and calculated the ranking of managing organizations and level of facilities based on the Ministry of Environment’s 1st phase evaluation. daily, Cheongju City received 43.2 points out of a maximum of 56 in the operation field, which evaluated 9 items such as wastewater inflow rate, 32.2 points out of a maximum of 40 in the management field, which evaluated 8 items such as possession of relevant technical licenses, and 4 additional points in the point addition and deduction field, which evaluated 11 items such as establishment of plans and performance records to improve wastewater inflow rate for a total of 79.4 points, leading to it being selected as the most exemplary management organization in Group 1.
