- Various Experiential Programs to Be Operated in Celebration of 2018 Autumn Travel Week -
Cheongju-si will be holding the ‘Suamgol Autumn Sketch’ event in the Suamgol region for 16 days from this coming October 20 to November 4. A collaborative effort linked with the 2018 Autumn Travel Week, the event will feature a host of experiential tour programs that visitors can join and participate in, such as handkerchief dyeing, making dalgona (caramelized sugar), drawing pictures in wooden frames, making character keychains, and drawing murals. In addition, a stage has been prepared for the occasion at Suamgol Park, and visitors will be able to appreciate the busking performances of indie bands from 3 pm on October 28 to take in sounds that harmonize with the autumn atmosphere of the village. Home to some 60 households that get along with one another, Suamgol ranks among Korea’s best known mural villages alongside Busan’s Gamcheon Culture Village and Tongyeong’s Dongpirang Village, and has served as the film site for notable Korean dramas such as Cain & Abel, Bread, Love and Dreams, and Glory Jane. A Cheongju-si official stated, “The Suamgol Autumn Sketch is the fruit of collaborative efforts among the residents of Suamgol to show people the village’s true value, and will be an incredibly unique event that residents and tourists alike can enjoy.
