- Cheongju Drone Festival 2018 to Be Held on the premises of Cheongju University on 27th and 28th -

The ’Cheongju Drone Festival 2018’, which is on its third iteration as of this year, will be held over the course of 2 days on the 27th and 28th at Cheongju University.

The scenic festival will take off in the clear skies of Cheongju, the city of life and culture, and feature various drone exhibitions, hands-on programs, Dream Mentoring Zone, hands-on classroom for children, competitions, and more.

This year’s festival offers more to see and enjoy than ever before, and expectations are already mounting as people look forward to seeing it play a leading role in proposing and popularizing the vision of the future industry.

As the theme for the ‘Cheongju Drone Festival 2018’ is ‘Expanding Opportunities to Experience Drones, Education, and Careers’, a new science experience zone has been established. In addition, the festival is being carried out in connection with the Chungbuk Science Festival, which is being hosted by the Chungcheongbuk-do Office of Education and supervised by the Chungcheongbuk-do Education & Science Research Institute. This collaboration will take place in the form of 20 hands-on classrooms for students.

Furthermore, a Dream Mentoring Zone (career consultations, and lectures by guest speakers) will be set up and operated to help youths explore career paths and find answers to their questions. Mentors from a wide range of organizations and universities within the province will provide career and admission counseling services for their respective fields.

Various competitions promise fun for spectators and medals for the contestants, such as the Drone Imagination and Idea Contest, where people engage in a battle of creativity using the perception of drones in our everyday lives, or the Mini Drone Hurdle Race, where drone operators can showcase their drone piloting skills to their heart’s content.

Families can also enjoy themselves with events and programs that aim to ensure that they’ll always have something to see, listen to, or do, as a part of the festival’s plan to bring in a constant stream of visitors.

A city official stated, “We have ensured that all of our programs are substantial and solid, so we hope that the festival will serve as a valuable experience that allows youths to let their dreams and hopes take off under the clean and clear skies of Cheongju, and the foundation for their positive future plans.”

The parking lot will be open to visitors free of charge during the festival period.
