- You Can Use the Book Borrowing Service at Any Library in the Whole Country Participating in the Integrated Public Library Book Service with One Membership Card –
- First Implementation in the Chungbuk Region and Performs the Role of Chungbuk Regional Center – Starting from August 1, Cheongju-si is implementing theIntegrated Public Library Book Service, in which you can borrow books from any libraries participating in the Integrated Public Library Book Service throughout the whole country with just one membership card. Currently, if you wish to enroll as a member for a library, you will find that the membership registration conditions are different for each region, such asrestrictions being imposedona certain region, and interested types. Thus, it is very difficult to register for membership in other regions if you wish to use them. Cheongju-si is implementing theIntegrated Public Library Book Service (organized by the National Library of Korea ) as its project to improve accessibility to libraries in the country for citizens andreject the aforementioned membership enrollment policies, which tend to be exclusive to each library. The participating libraries in Cheongju-si are the 12 public libraries in Cheongju region–Cheongju Municipal Library, CheongjuOsong Library, CheongjuSangdang Library, CheongjuCheongwon Library, CheongjuOchang-Hosu Library, CheongjuOchang Library, CheongjuSeowon Library, CheongjuHeungdeok Library, CheongjuSinyulbong Children’s Library, CheongjuGangnae Library, CheongjuOksan Library, and CheongjuMiracle Library. To register, you should apply for membership from the Cheongju-si library website and conversion of your membership to an Integrated Public Library Book Service membership, and then visit a public library near you in Cheongju-si to receive an Integrated Public Library Book Service book borrowing card. After registering as a member, it is possible to borrow books and share the members between the libraries participating in theIntegrated Public Library Book Service. The number of books that can be borrowed is 5 books per library, with a maximum total of 20 books per person from all participating libraries nationwide. The borrowing period is 15 days (reflectingthe Integrated Public Library Book Service Membership Management Regulation of the National Library of Korea). Chief Librarian Kim Su-ja of the Cheongju Municipal Library said, “The Integrated Public Library Book Service, in terms of being able to use any library throughout the country regardless of where you live, provides an environment that is convenient to read books,” and added, “In the future as well, we will seek for various ways to expand the integrated public library service environment.” ▶ Inquiries: Cheongju Municipal Library Library Policy Team (☎043-201-4083) |
