- Free Wi-Fi Available at Munam Ecological Park and Ochang Lake Park –
Starting from July, citizens visiting Munam Ecological Park and Ochang Lake Park, the famous spots in the Cheongju region, can use public Wi-Fi for free. Cheongju-si has built Public Wi-Fi Zones inside Munam Ecological Park and Ochang Lake Park, and the wireless internet service will be test operated until the 30th before offering the service in full scale from the next month. At the Public Wi-Fi Zone, anyone can use Gigabyte wireless internet service regardless of their mobile service provider, and thus it is expected to raise convenience and reduce communication costs for visitors to Munam Ecological Park and Ochang Lake Park. To use the free Wi-Fi, just select “cjcity_freeWiFi“ from the wireless network search list on your smart device to use the internet service without a separate authentication process. Additionally, you can move to the city’s cultural tourism website via QR Code and NFC, to find information on the municipal government, such as events and festivals. Last year, Cheongju-si built public Wi-Fi in over 190 places including Suamgol, Munui Cultural Properties Site, libraries, traditional markets, and civil petition offices at administrative buildings to make it easier for citizens to use their mobile devices. Starting from September, Public Wi-Fi Zones will be built in 110 city buses in Cheongju, allowing citizens to receive communication services inside the city buses as well. In 2020, free Wi-Fi will be available in all city buses being operated in Cheongju-si, so it is expected that access to wireless internet by the citizens will be upgraded even further.
