- Expected to promote the charms of Cheongju’s cultural art and biennale to the world in multiple languages What will Cheongju Craft Biennale 2023 introduced from the perspectives of foreign residents in Korea look like? The Cheongju Craft Biennale Organizing Committee (Chairperson Lee Beom-seog; [Mayor of Cheongju]) has begun recruiting foreign ambassadors for the first time since its start 24 years ago. The qualifications for ambassadors, whose recruitment will be held by Jul. 7, are foreign residents who can speak both Korean and foreign languages (native language, English, etc.) and can promote Cheongju's cultural art and the biennale on social media. A total of 50 applicants will be selected and those who are qualified as ambassadors will promote the biennale at home and abroad using their native language and help attract global visitors. The launching ceremony is scheduled to be held on Thu, Jul. 13, which is 50 days before the festival. Admission tickets, souvenirs, and other items will be provided to let them have deeper understanding on craft and help the ambassadors actively carry out their activities. Foreigners who live in Korea and would like to serve as the first foreign ambassador for the biennale can apply by downloading the application form on the official website (okcj.org), filling in and emailing it to limye1718@gmail.com by Fri, Jul. 7. Meanwhile, Cheongju Craft Biennale 2023 will embark on its 45-day journey on Sep. 1 in Cultural Factory under the theme of “The Geography of Objects_Living in the Net of Biophilia.” |
