Cheongju City announced a plan to create and distribute the “Cheongju Playground Map,” which contains information on playgrounds located across the city for convenient use by children and their parents.
Cheongju City, which received the Child Friendly City certification from UNICEF last year, has been raising the importance of providing citizens with information on various playgrounds across the city. Cheongju City decided to promote this project in order to guarantee children’s right to play and spread healthy play culture. The project will run from March to July. The map will contain information on the locations of playgrounds around the city, such as forest experience center for children, ecological playgrounds, forest playgrounds for children, aquatic playgrounds, book playgrounds (libraries), museums, galleries, youth training centers, and toy rental centers, as well as key facilities, hours, and phone numbers. This map will be created by visiting children’s playgrounds and collecting the opinions of children, parents, and ombudspersons for children’s rights. In addition to being produced as a paper map, the Cheongju Playground Map will be available for convenient access on the Cheongju City website and Cheongju City website for children. Citizens will also be able to view the map online using the QR code on the paper map. The map will be distributed to community service centers in 43 administrative districts as well as children’s facilities, including local child centers, in order to increase the convenience of use by children. A spokesperson of Cheongju City said, “We hope the playground map will be helpful to children. We will promote the project with continued interest in children’s right to play.” The spokesperson added, “It would also help us to finalize the map if citizens would register information they have about playgrounds and other spaces children like under the ‘Communication’ section of Cheongju City website for children (https://www.cheongju.go.kr/child/index.do) by April.” ▶ Inquiry: Dream Start Team, Childcare Division (☎ +82-43-201-1951) |
