Title Cheongju City adds KRW 10 billion additional loan to the 2021 Small Business Development Funds
Writer Logistics Industry Team
Subject Cheongju City will be increasing the 2021 Small Business Development Funds by KRW 10 billion.

The city made such a decision to help small business owners who are having difficult times brought about by COVID-19 stabilize their businesses and form a foundation for self-reliance.

The city will start receiving applications for the additional KRW 10 billion funds on July 1 when the second round of application begins.

The fund will be available to small business owners who are registered residents of and operate business sites in Cheongju (manufacturing, construction, transportation, and mining businesses with less than 10 full-time workers, and wholesale, retail, and service businesses with less than 5 full-time workers).

However, small businesses that are closed (either temporarily or permanently) on the day of the application, business owners who are prohibited or restricted from being guarantors by the Chungbuk Credit Guarantee Foundation, financial or insurance businesses, and businesses that encourage extravagance or hedonistic consumption are not eligible for the loan program.

Applications are accepted from July 1, and the program will end when the funds are exhausted.

Chungbuk Credit Guarantee Foundation will accept applications on-site and select recipients through screening.

Each small business will be granted an opportunity to receive up to KRW 50 million in loan (including previous loans), with three years of interest-only repayment period.

Cheongju City will subsidize 2% of the interest incurred for the loans that the selected small businesses received from eight financial institutions (Shinhan, KB, Woori, Hana, NongHyup, Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives, Shinhyup, Hansung Savings Bank).

An official from the city government said, “The city government increased the budget for the loan program to ease the burden of the local small business owners who are suffering from the prolongation of COVID-19. We will continue to do our best to help small business owners stabilize their businesses through various local policies.”

More information on the program can be found on the official website of the Cheongju City Government (http://www.cheongju.go.kr) or Chungbuk Credit Guarantee Foundation (http://www.cbsinbo.or.kr).

Meanwhile, KRW 10 billion worth of funds for the first round of application was exhausted in early February this year, and the third round of the program worth KRW 10 billion will start on October 1.

Through the increase in the fund, the city provided small business owner development funds totaling at KRW 30 million.
