Cheongju City announced the application extension of the eased eligibility criteria for the Emergency Relief Fund by December 31, 2021 in an attempt to aid households financially struggling due to COVID-19.
The Emergency Relief Fund is intended to support families that were hit hard by the pandemic, including job loss of primary income earners, runaways, temporary or permanent closures of businesses, serious diseases, injuries, etc. The following groups are eligible for the Emergency Relief Fund: a four-person household with income under KRW 3.65 million and financial asset under KRW 5 million (based on the four-person household, a relief fund (to support cost of living) of KRW 7.31 million is deducted), and a household with an asset under KRW 200 million. Once the application for the Emergency Relief Fund is approved, the applicant will be granted living subsidies accordingly (based on the four-person household, KRW 1.26 million) or medical, housing, fuel and education subsidies. A spokesperson of Cheongju City emphasized, “If you are financially struggling due to the pandemic, do not hesitate to call the Community Welfare Division (129) or the counselor at your local eup/myeon/dong office to apply for the Emergency Relief Fund.
