Cheongju-si completed the Smart Gardens, a place for healing and rest - The Smart Garden is installed in two business premises within the Ochang Industrial Complex - Cheongju-si completed the Smart Gardens to improve the environment for employees working in the industrial complex. The Smart Garden Construction Project was commenced in July 2019, funded by the Korea Forest Service. The goal of the project is to construct new conceptual gardens where residents can heal themselves and take a rest while enjoying the four seasons indoors. Through this project, the gardens were mainly installed in industrial complexes and public facilities based on automatic plant management technology. The project cost of KRW 60 million was used by the city to install a smart garden in two business premises within the Ochang Industrial Complex. Air purifying plants such as Bird’s-nest Fern and Philodendron Congo were planted on the walls, and an IoT system was installed for watering, lighting and air-conditioning control. It was designed so that employees can heal themselves both physically and mentally. An official at Cheongju-si said, “Smart gardens are expected to contribute to improving the working environment. Employees will be able to heal themselves both physically and mentally by enjoying the garden all year round.
