- Reward for the first person to report a tap water leak. 72 cases fixed this year thanks to citizen reports Cheongju City announced on the 9th that the 'Tap Water Leakage Reporting Reward System' is under implementation to prevent accidents and waste of tap water stemming from leakage. This program is in accordance with the 'Cheongju City Water Supply Ordinance' and has been in place since 2007 to encourage citizens to report water leaks. If you find a tap water leak on the street and report it to the water supply business headquarters (+82-43-257-7979), you will automatically be accepted as a candidate for the reward. However, leaks of water pipes managed by individuals within a private property are not eligible for reporting. The city will then pay the reward (gift certificate of 20,000 won) to the reporters after confirming whether they are the first reporters and the completion of the leak repair work. This year, the city has fixed 72 cases of tap water leakage and paid rewards worth 1.44 million won to citizens who actively joined the city’s effort to address water leakage. “Resolving the inconvenience caused by water leaks starts from early detection,” said a city official. “If water flows over the street or is wet when it is not raining, you may suspect that there is a tap water leak, so we encourage citizens to pay attention and report it immediately if they find a leak.” |
