- The city government will start a 100-million-won project to green Ilsin Girls' High School, and finish by June - Cheongju Municipal Government will be active in the project of changing school into park which has received good responses from citizens by providing them with easily accessible rest spaces. With 100 million won, the government promotes the School Park project in Ilsin Girls' High School. The project is to secure green space in school area in urban center, and prepare rest spaces which can serve as both improved educational environment and rest areas for residents. For the currently promoted School Park Project, the government last year received applications from eight elementary, middle, and high schools in Cheongju, and analyzed them on the project conditions and effects of the project. Finally, it selected Ilsin Girls' High School as the object of the School Park Project. The municipal government plans to complete the job of project design by mid-March, and complete the construction by June, and open the area to students and residents. A government official said, "To secure needy green spaces using school sites located regularly in the city, and to cultivate good personalities of students and to provide residents with rest spaces, we will keep promoting the School Park Project." Meanwhile, the city government began the School Park Project in 2003.
